Earthquakes, Maybe. But Is Los Angeles Prepared For A Tsunami?

When a typhoon is expected to land inHong Kong, the Hong Kong Observatory is prepared with a comprehensive alert system that issues hourly summaries of weather warnings through the news and radio. Citizens are accustomed to checking their smartphones often about high typhoon levels to know what time they can leave work and go home.
But if a tsunami hit Los Angeles, the entire county would have little reaction time and be largely unprepared, even though an alerting system already exists. Less than 1% of the county’s population is currently registered to receive an emergency warning via their mobile devices. (As of Oct. 30, the department has seen a meager 26,711 county residents registered for the Alert L.A. County Mass Notification System, which sends emergency warnings via text message, e-mail and voice message in case of natural disasters.)
The rest of the county’s population would rely on public service announcements, phone calls to landlines or police and firefighters going door-to-door to relay the department’s emergency alerts.
“Obviously this is not that quick,” said Chris Ipsen, public information officer for the city of Los Angeles Emergency Department. “A quick system would be a warning system, but we’re not going to just sit there and not do anything. We work with what we have.
The number of citizens registered for L.A. County’s alert system is dangerously low, considering the state coastline’s vulnerability to tsunamis. A recent U.S. Geological Survey study found a 40% chance of a major earthquake occurring in the Pacific Northwest region of the state in the next 50 years.
“People need to step up on preparedness because there aren’t going to be enough responders,” said Ipsen.
An effective warning system for such a natural disaster would quickly alert all residents in at-risk areas to move to higher ground. With a population of nearly 4 million people, Ipsen said, only 25% to 30% would be prepared to make it through a tsunami unscathed.
Japan set a high standard for handling natural disasters when touchingreports surfaced of how orderly and civilized ordinary citizens were despite supply shortages after a devastating 9.03 magnitude earthquake and tsunami in 2011. Following a nuclear crisis, who would think to publish a short cartoon video to explain it to young children? One Japanese artist did.
The effects of the 2011 tsunami in Japan were felt across the Pacific Ocean to earthquake-prone California, which shares the same tectonic plate. Hours after the tsunami struck Japan on March 11 last year, the National Weather Service also reported severe damage to harbors in Santa Cruz and Crescent City, Calif.
Ipsen, who has been working on promoting registration for the alert system, said city officials also recognize the problem, but the lack of funding makes it difficult for any action to be taken.
The city would benefit from a siren system, said Larry Meyerhofer, emergency manager at the L.A. Emergency Management Department, but the cost is high.
“The siren system would be another $5 million to put in and from what I’ve told, another 10% for maintenance every year,” Meyerhofer said. “We’ve pursued grant money, but we’ve had no luck with the federal government.”
Still, Ipsen said residents can prepare for a tsunami and he recommends storing food, a phone charger and disaster kit for the home, vehicle and workplace. He also emphasized communication with loved ones.
“In a natural disaster, people just don’t think like normal because they don’t get what’s happening,” Ipsen said. “It’s the fear of the unknown. But know things like the emergency plan of the school your child attends. Don’t just expect to roll down to school and get Johnny. That’s very important.”
But even if the California coastline were to experience a tsunami, skeptics say the damage would not be devastating.
When the 2011 tsunami hit Japan and California felt the effects, Rich Baratta, director of risk management at the Port of Long Beach, said the port noticed obvious changes in the channel, but there was no real impact.
“The tsunami hit at about 8:30 a.m. but everything was back to normal at about 10 a.m.,” Baratta said. “We had ample time to prepare.”
He also said the biggest advantage of the Port of Long Beach’s location is that it faces south, along with a nearby nine-mile long barrier.

New Delhi suffers though its coldest day in 44 years – 114 dead

January 4, 2013 – CLIMATE - New Delhi has suffered its coldest day in 44 years amid a cold snap across northern India, the local weather office said on Thursday. The maximum day temperature on Wednesday reached just 9.8 degrees Celsius (49.6 degrees Fahrenheit), the lowest since the winter of 1969 when records first began, an official in the local meteorological department told AFP, with a minimum of 4.8 Celsius. There is expected to be little respite in the coming few days with the weather office forecasting that chilly conditions will prevail. The unusual cold has been attributed to dense fog which has obscured the sun and disrupted airports and trains, as well as icy winds from the snowy Himalayas to the north. Winter in the Indian capital, home to 16.3 million people, usually lasts through January before giving way to spring and summer, when temperatures regularly rise to 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees Fahrenheit).
More than 100 dead: At least 114 people have died from the cold in the state of Uttar Pradesh, a police spokesman, Surendra Srivastava, said yesterday. At least 23 of those died in the past 24 hours. Mr. Srivastava said many of the dead were poor people whose bodies were found on sidewalks or in parks. The weather department said temperatures in the state were between 4 and 10°C below normal. As globe warms, Alaska is cooling down: Fairbanks, Alaska (UPI) Despite a global trend of warming climate, Alaska has been experiencing a widespread cooling pattern for at least a decade, scientists say. In the first decade since 2000, the state has cooled an average of 2.4 degrees Fahrenheit, the online newspaper Alaska Dispatch reported. That’s a “large value for a decade,” the Alaska Climate Research Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks said in a report published in the Atmospheric Science Journal. Cooling temperatures have been recorded at 19 of the 20 National Weather Service stations spread throughout Alaska, the report said. Parts of Western Alaska saw temperatures drop a significant 4.5 degrees for the decade, it said. Researchers said the cooling was likely caused by an ocean phenomenon known as the Decadal Oscillation that moved colder surface water temperatures closer to Alaska. Researchers said it is unknown how long the cooling trend might last, although they noted the state experienced thirty years of relative cold climate starting in the mid-1940s. –Space Daily

New Year’s day set snow cover record in U.S.

January 4, 2013 – CLIMATE Snow coverage in the United States on New Year’s Day was the most in 10 years with 67 percent of the 48 contiguous states covered by snow, meteorologists say. That surpassed the previous record set in 2010, when the new year saw 61 percent of the, rec United States beneath snow, AccuWeather.com reported Thursday. That was the year of the mid-Atlantic blizzard dubbed “Snowmaggedon” that set a long list of records in cities such as Philadelphia, Washington and Baltimore. “As far as New Year’s Days go, I think that our [2013] snow cover is very healthy,” AccuWeather.com Expert Senior Meteorologist Jack Boston said. Unusually low snow coverage percentages since record keeping began in 2004, with the exception of 2010, have been an anomaly, Boston said. “The temperature of the North Atlantic ocean has been in a warm cycle and that has resulted in eastern North America, on average, having milder temperatures during the last decade.” However, he said, most of the contiguous United States was above normal in snow coverage for the month of December 2012 as well. –Terra Earth

Will the government and media inform the masses immediately in time of disaster?!

When disasters occur, will the government and media inform the public immediately?
A blast in CNOOC (China National Offshore Oil Corp) Huizhou refinery, a brand of Daya Bay nuclear power plant in China’s Guangdong province –– occurred at around 4.10 on 11 July 2011. The reason was that 3 pumps at the bottom of the refinery tower broke into fire.

When the fire broke out, Huizhou refinery fire services, Daya Bay fire services, petrolchemical logistics fire services and CNOOC and Shell fire services with more than 40 fire engines participated in the rescue. Oil spill alert was also started.

At around 9 pm, CNOOC's Huizhou refinery Office Ma Hongming told the press that the fire was extinguished. No casualties and no oil spill were reported. Each facility in the factory functioned properly and the equipment was under control.

The smokes resulted in the fire were petrol (mainly carbon dioxide) and there was no hazardous elements. CNOOC's Huizhou refinery denied any explosion broken out.

If we only watch the news, it seems that the incident is not serious and the fire was already under control. As for the local residents, it seems that there is no danger and they do not need to escape.

Has explosion occurred?

According to the witnesses, when the fire broke out, residents witnessed that the blast was up to hundred meters tall and there were heavy smokes.

Some residents even described that if you witnessed the fire scene, you would know what a doomsday look like.

Being the mass media and news broadcasters, why don’t they report the actual situation such as explosion?

Why it is actually the public who pictured the scene and circulated on the Internet?

At 1:55pm in the afternoon, the so-called “under control” fire scene exploded again. Heavy smoke was resulted. Some of the combustion equipment fell down. 10 remote water guns being set in the area were drowned in the fire. The scene was horrible.
Luckily, the front line firemen controlled the high-tech movable water guns in a long distance so that a horrible disaster could be avoided.

The fire lasted for 13 hours. Luckily, the nuclear power plant 20 miles away was not affected.

After looking at the shocking truth, one can’t help asking why does the authority always not reflect the seriousness of the incident?

When disaster happens, will the government and media inform the public of the danger of the disaster it the first place?

3600: Proof in the Numbers

"The number 3600 was written in Sumerian as a large circle. The epithet for the planet also meant 'a perfect circle' or 'a completed cycle'. It also meant the number 3600." -  Zecharia Sitchin, The 12th Planet
"The ancient Sumerian's got their information from the Annunaki, whose home planet Nibiru makes a passage approximately every 3,657 years, by our count."  ZetaTalk
Sumerian mathematics has been interpreted to operate on a sexagesimal system, suggesting it was based on the number 60.  This complex mathematical system dating back well before 3000 BC has mostly evaded understanding by those tasked with defining it.
The Babylonian civilization that supplanted Sumerian and Akkadian culture around 2000 BC also used this system to perform astronomical calculations whose influence remains with us today.  That our measurements of time and circularity are defined by subsets of 60 whose base summation equals 3600 is not by happenstance.
Why the Sumerians picked 60 as the base of their numbering system is the subject of conjecture among scholars, yet the reason is obvious to those with eyes to see.  As the Zetas have explained, this methodology was not developed by the Sumerians but by the Anunnaki for gauging time relative to the return of their home planet. Thus, Sumerian mathematics was not based on the number 60, but rather 3600.
THE 3600 CLUB
In addition to the compelling evidence found in Sumerian mathematics, recurring cataclysms visited upon the Earth every 3,600 years is demonstrably evident by the archeological evidence of mass extinctions and collapsed civilizations.
"The Mastodon [or mammoth] is a species that went extinct during the past few pole shifts, primarily when the grasslands they browsed in Siberia were drawn rapidly into the new polar circle."  ZetaTalk
"In 1797 the body of a mammoth, with flesh, skin, and hair, was found in northeastern Siberia. The flesh had the appearance of freshly frozen beef; it was edible, and wolves and sled dogs fed on it without harm. The ground must have been frozen ever since the day of their entombment; had it not been frozen, the bodies of the mammoths would have putrefied in a single summer, but they remained unspoiled for some thousands of years. In some mammoths, when discovered, even the eyeballs were still preserved.
"This shows that the cold became suddenly extreme .. and knew no relenting afterward. In the stomachs and between the teeth of the mammoths were found plants and grasses that do not grow now in northern Siberia .. (but are) .. now found in southern Siberia. Microscopic examination of the skin showed red blood corpuscles, which was proof not only of a sudden death, but that the death was due to suffocation either by gases or water."
- Immanuel Velikovsky, Earth in Upheaval
"A population of Woolly Mammoths greatly reduced in size are known to have lived on the island of Wrangel, which lies within the Arctic Circle off the coast of Northern Russia. Carbon isotope dating indicates that these Woolly Mammoths died out 1650 years BC, the most recent date attributed to the extinction of any Mammoth population."  Source

The End of the Supe, Peru
"Nature turned against one of America's early civilizations 3,600 years ago, when researchers say earthquakes and floods, followed by blowing sand, drove away residents of an area that is now in Peru.
"Anthropologist Mike Moseley said: ‘They had no incentive to change, and then all of a sudden, boom, they just got the props knocked out from under them.’
"Moseley and colleagues were studying civilization of the Supe Valley along the Peruvian coast, which was established up to 5,800 years ago. The people thrived on land adjacent to productive bays and estuaries. The Supe fished with nets, irrigated fruit orchards and grew cotton and a variety of vegetables. They also built stone pyramids thousands of years before the better known Mayans. But the Supe disappeared about 3,600 years ago. A massive earthquake, or series of quakes, struck the region, collapsing walls and floors and launching landslides from barren mountain ranges surrounding the valley. In addition, layers of silt indicate massive flooding followed.
"Then came a change in the winds and currents in the Pacific Ocean, which brought heavy rains that damaged irrigation systems and washed debris into the streams and down to the ocean, where the sand and silt settled into a large ridge, sealing off the previously rich coastal bays. In the end, land where the Supe had lived for millenia became uninhabitable and their society collapsed."  Source

Santorini and the Demise of the Minoan Civilization
"The last major explosion of Santorini occurred 3,600 years ago. The thunderous fury of nature left its mark on the island, the home of Greece's last active volcano which still smolders today. The entire center of the circular island sank into the sea during the tremendous volcanic explosion. The eruption caused tidal waves which virtually wiped out the advanced Minoan Civilization of Crete, 70 miles to the south.
"The huge mass of pumice thrown out from this eruption covered the surface of the sea over a wide region and was washed up at higher levels on the shores by the tsunamis triggered by earthquakes."  Source
"In Amnissos, the port of Knossos, scientists examined findings that contained ash, marine species, cattle bones, floor and wall plaster, pumice and seashells. They figured out immediately that this could be explained only by a massive and sudden inflow of water. The only way they could have been deposited on the land of Crete was by a tsunami. The tidal wave caused by Santorini Volcano traveled and hit the shores of Crete, destroying the plantations, the crops, the ships and commerce, devitalizing and deviating the Minoan Civilization. The Minoan ports and infrastructures were destroyed by the 50 feet waves and were never rebuilt.
"Using radio carbon techniques they compared the geological findings with the eruption era and the conclusion was horrifying: not only one, but several successive tsunamis, of more than 50 feet (15m) were hitting the Cretan shores, every thirty minutes."  Source

Hong Kong Has Potential Tsunami Threats according to a Taiwan Research

Mar 17, 2011, 6 days after the mega earthquake hitting North-east Japan, Dr.Tso-Ren Wu, Associate Professor at the Graduate Institute of Hydrological and Oceanic Sciences of the National Central University of Taiwan, has published an article titled “Research and Reflection on Japan’s Mega Tsunami 2011”.

It explained that for such a massive tsunami to take place in Fukushima, it is because this tsunami has all the necessary conditions that enable a mega tsunami:

1. It requires an undersea megathrust earthquake. This time the scale was a 9-magnitude megathrust earthquake.

2. It must be a Thrust Fault (or reverse fault). This earthquake was caused by plate subduction, which is a standard Thrust Fault. Out-of-sequence thrust fault causes direct vertical displacement of the seafloor, carrying a column of water and thus forming tsunamis.

3. The epicenter must be shallow. The focal depth of the epicenter was 25km in the South-Asia tsunami while that of Fukushima earthquake was only 10km. Therefore the energy release could be converted to tsunami energy more completely.

4. The underwater depth must be deep to allow sufficient volume of water to store potential energy. The underwater depth of Fukushima Tsunami was about 3km. It is of sufficient water depth to store the seismic energy and be converted into Tsunami waves.

5. There is a uniform slope. Slopes can magnify tsunamis and create Edge Wave Effect. There are some beautiful slopes in the outer ocean of Fukushima.

Although Hong Kong is not located within the subduction zone, therefore seemingly less a chance for earthquakes to happen, does it really mean that mega earthquakes and tsunamis that took place in North-east Japan will not happen here in Hong Kong?

We got to understand that opposite to the shore of Hong Kong, at the eastern side of the South China Sea is the Luzon Island of Philippines. Its west coast sits the notorious Manila Trench.

The article points out that this trench has been identified as the most active trench in the world by the USGS. Its extremely long thrust length of approx. 1,500km is similar to that causing the South-Asia Tsunami. Also, it is a subduction plate in which the Eurasian Plate is subducting under the Philippine Sea Plate.

The GPS geodesy measurements show that the convergence rate across the Megathrust is at 8.7cm per year, which is considered as an active thrust fault.

Also, there is no record of any mega earthquake since 1560, a time when the Philippines started written records; even the monitoring in recent years has not shown any earthquakes that are of magnitude 8 or above.

This is very similar to the South-Asia and the Fukushima Tsunamis. Energy is being accumulated under the crust which is potentially of serious danger.
The article also points out that according to the analysis of earthquake recurrence interval, the recurrence interval of a 8.5-magnitude earthquake in the Manila Trench is 205 years and that of a 9.0 magnitude is 667 years.

From the data above, it shows that the Manila Trench has already stored a considerable amount of energy that can potentially lead to a mega earthquake in the future.

And if a mega earthquake takes place in the Manila Trench, the tsunami created can potentially be impacting Hong Kong.

Nibiru Is Coming! Still Skeptical? Watch This! (Video)

Do I believe in Nibiru? I believe in truth. In the last several months, some very strange things have been going on in our universe and upon our planet Earth. Between fireballs in Texas, meteors crashing into the sea in Turkey and impact explosions upon Jupiter visible to even amateur astronomers, one would have to be ‘sound asleep’ to think that all is well in the Heavens and our wonderful Universe above.

According to both writers and astrologers, the phrase ‘as above, so below’ has great meaning; it provides an explanation as to why and how the world works. It seems a great concept that the visible stars in the sky are linked to life on earth. The microcosm and the macrocosm are connected. The Universe is one with life upon our Earth.

Life upon this Earth at this very moment is fraught with unrest and tumult; why should we believe that things should be any different in the Heavens; within our Universe? Wise men take great heed in what we have been shown in past scripture. All great things have been shown to us, through the wisdom of the past we shall learn our future. The time is now.

The Seven Trumpets of Revelation. The Third Trumpet: Wormwood (Nibiru and its associated debris.)

 Revelation 8: 8-9
“The third angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea, and third part of the sea became blood; and the third part of the creatures that were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of ships were destroyed.”

Trumpet Three is described as a blazing mountain (or meteor) falling into the sea which will cause unimaginable ecological devastation.

MSM has declared that a “Comet,” 15x Brighter than the moon, is due to arrive in November of 2013. MSM says that it will be visible in Broad Daylight over the US. Is it a comet or is it something more? Call “it” what you will but, IT will be here in November as per the News
